When it comes to skincare, products are half the battle to achieve the radiant clear look we all crave for. There are foods out there that can help with the process it’s just knowing what?
Lemons
When life gives you lemons make your skin beautiful! Lemons are a miracle worker; they’re rich in Vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant. A recent study found, the more vitamin C you consume in your diet helps to reduce dryness and wrinkles in your skin. Lemons can also neutralise free radicals that attack the skin and break down the elastin by converting amino acids into collagen.
Drinking a warm glass of lemon infused water in the morning and evening can massively improve the appearance of your skin.
Avocado
Avocado's have been all the rage this past year with good reason. Avocados contain nearly 20 different vitamins and minerals which aid in everyday skincare. The fruit is a rich source of Vitamin E and C which reduces inflammation, perfect for combating acne and breakouts. Also, Avocados naturally moisturise the skin minimising dry skin.
You can eat Avocado in the classic Instagram way; avocado on toast and take the perfect shot. You can also create a quick and easy breakfast with baked avocado eggs or if you’re on the go a simple smoothie.
Spinach
The general rule is the brighter the colour the more vitamins and minerals. Spinach is no exception, they’re full of lutein, an antioxidant which benefits both the skin and eyes. So, if you want to be the one at the party with the bright eyes, spinach is the veggie you need. It’s full of vitamin C which repairs skin cells and helps replenish collagen which aids in producing new skin cells, another one to defeat acne.
Bring spinach into your everyday diet by incorporating it in salads, pasta and smoothies.
Almonds
Almonds are another food that is full of vitamin E that prevents cell and sun damage, so this is a good one if you’re going away for summer sun. Almond milk is equally beneficial, it’s rich in protein and vitamins which soften and hydrate the skin, so it’s the perfect alternative to cow’s milk which can cause breakouts.
Beetroot
Beetroot is a pain, it stains and gets everywhere, but it’s a rich source of iron, vitamins and minerals which contribute to the healthy glow you’ve been looking for. Eating cooked beetroot as part of your meal (I love it with my homemade Greek salad) or drinking beetroot juice reduces inflammation so all those blemishes and redness, consider them gone.
Kiwifruit
Kiwifruit is the hidden gem when it comes to eating your way to perfect skin. It’s rich with vitamin C and E that helps rejuvenate the skin giving you a glowing complexion but also keeping the skin firm and wrinkle free. The amount of vitamin E in the fruit makes it an incredible moisturiser keeping the skin cells hydrated, leaving you with a youthful and dewy look.
You can eat kiwi as a snack, breakfast or as a dessert.
